COURSE PARTS

PART 1 – Pool & Academics

We cover the basic open water skills in a confined (pool) setting and make sure you master them before going to the open water setting (PART 2). In this same day we will cover the academic portion whereby you will have been required to read a manual, answer review questions and be tested on your dive theory knowledge.

E-Learning Option

The PADI Online E-Learning Option is extra (Please check with PADI on these prices. They often change prices). This gets paid directly to PADI when you sign up online for the PADI E-learning option instead of doing the academics with us.

PART 2 – Open Water Checkout Dives at Dutch Springs, PA

The is where you will be taking your mastery of the skills you learned in Part 1 (pool setting) and doing the same skills in an open water setting.

REQUIRED FORMS

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PADI OPEN WATER DIVER CERTIFICATION IN NJ?

  • You need to be at least 10 years old.
  • You need to be in reasonably good health. If you answer “yes” to any of the medical conditions, you have to get your Dr. to approve you to be able to participate in the class (see physician area on Medical Form). No exceptions are made. If you answer “no”, to ALL the medical conditions, no Dr. approval is required.
  • You need to know how to swim. You don’t have to be an Olympic swimmer but must be able to do the 200 yard freestyle swim OR 300 yard mask, fins, booties and snorkel swim and do the 10 minute water tread test in water too deep to stand up in.
  • Additionally, you must come to our shop two weeks in advance to pick up your gear we ordered for you to make sure it all fits properly and pick up your books to be able to prepare in advance.

The academic work takes at least 10-15 hours of preparation. So, we want to make sure you have the materials to adequately prepare yourself.

PART 1 - ACADEMICS & POOL

COURSE DETAILS: PADI Open Water Diver Certification in NJ

ACADEMICS

This course gives you all the basics of scuba diving; the principles, how it will affect your entire body once you are submerged in the water, what equipment to use and the likes. Once you enroll you’ll be given a manual containing all the learning materials .You will be completing this at your own pace. You will be responsible for reading all the sections, and once you are ready, your instructor will then give you quizzes and exams to check if you are nailing down all the concepts.

By taking the PADI Scuba Certification online, you can forgo the classroom sessions and take the course at your own pace. All you have to do is present the E-learning certificate at the end of your modules and take an exam to prove your mastery of the academic dive theory.

POOL SESSION

This is when the scuba fun starts. You will start putting what you’ve learned in concept into practice. You’ll develop your scuba skills at this point and master it until you are ready to move forward to a more challenging course. Trainings at this time will be conducted in a pool or somewhere with pool-like conditions.

PART 2 - OPEN WATER CHECKOUT DIVES

COURSE DETAILS: Open Water Dives at Dutch Springs, PA

PART II-OPEN WATER DIVES

After your training in the pool sessions and academic completion, your skills will then be put to test in the open water. The open water checkout dives will consist of 4 open water dives over the course of two days at Dutch Springs, PA. This is where you’ll truly experience the adventure and excitement of being underwater. Beginning scuba divers will be supervised, of course, by one of our amazing Scuba Guru PADI professionals.

With regard to the PADI Open Water Diver Certification in NJ training program, there is nothing like it. It is one of the most thorough and sought out programs in the world whereby you will learn the basic skills to make you a safe and efficient scuba diver, no matter what part of the world you decide to go diving in.

ALTERNATIVE OPTION FOR OPEN WATER CHECKOUT DIVES

If you decide that you don’t want to do your Open Water checkout dives at Dutch Springs, PA, at the end of your Part 1 Pool & Academics Session, we can give you a referral for you to complete this while you are away on vacation.

If you’ve participated in the Discover Scuba program previously or are already a certified scuba diver, all you need to do is ask your PADI SCUBA instructor to see if they can apply or credit some of these courses into the PADI Open Water Certification in NJ training program.

DO YOU HAVE OPEN WATER DIVING CERTIFICATIONS FOR CHILDREN?

Yes. PADI has a Junior Open Water Diving course in NJ for children ages 10-14. They can only dive with the supervision of either a PADI certified professional, or a certified parent or guardian and only up to a depth of 40 feet (12 meters).

WHAT CAN I EXPECT ONCE I ENROLL?

During your PADI Open Water Diving Certification in NJ, you will learn about and master all the equipment, concepts and skills you need in order to be a good, responsible and safe scuba diver.

Your certificate will be earned once you have completed all your knowledge development classes:

  • Five (5) pool dives
  • And four (4) dives in open water (either in lakes or oceans).

 

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO COMPLETE THE PADI OPEN WATER DIVER CERTIFICATION IN NJ?

This depends on your preference. Since the program is extremely flexible, you can be certified in as little as 3-4 days, two weeks or it can be longer depending on your schedule and performance.

Please note that the courses are performance based and not time bound; meaning you’ll only progress to the next level or next course once you are ready and comfortable with the current course you are taking.
